Marco GonçalvesCEO

•Marco Gonçalves is the founding partner and CEO at Riza Capital.

•Marco Gonçalves before founding Riza Capital was the former Global head of M&A at BTG Pactual and the head of M&A Brazil at Credit Suisse, having also served as a senior partner at BTG Pactual.

•Mr. Gonçalves has more than 20 years of experience in investment banking with focus on M&A transactions. Before joining BTG Pactual he worked at Credit Suisse, ABN AMRO, Deutsche Bank, BNP Paribas in Sao Paulo and New York.

•Gabriel Varella is a partner at Riza Capital

•Gabriel Varella, before joining Riza Capital, was a Director in the Investment Banking Department at BTG Pactual. Gabriel has more than 10 years of experience in the market.

Rogério Penalva

•In January of 2010, Mr. Penalva founded Synesi, an M&A boutique focused in healthcare, education, renewable energy and death industry. As Synesi’s client, DASA pointed Mr. Penalva as head for all M&A activities from 2010 to 2011, been responsible for the merge with MD1, an $1 billion transaction, one of the largest in the diagnostic sector in Brazil. Concomitantly, Mr. Penalva worked, between 2010 and 2011, for Brasil Plural Capital, been part of the group that executed the sale of the Hospital Samaritano, one of the most recognized hospitals in Rio de Janeiro.

•From 2008 to 2009 he was Director of Private Equity at Vision Brazil Investments, a hedge fund with $2 billion under management. He was at the Board of the invested companies, raised funds for new projects and supervised 4 projects: cattle, land, ethanol and renewable energy. From 2004 to 2007 worked as a Director for Patria been responsible for all M&A activity for DASA, an invested company of Patria at that time, also responsible for the sale for some Patria’s first fund assets such as Fototica. From 2001 to 2004 he was head of M&A for Allen Global Advisors LLC in Brazil, an M&A boutique focused in cross border transactions in Latin America. Between 1999 and 2001 worked at JP Morgan/Chase, participated in large operations such as the Whirlpool’s stock buyback in Brazil, the sale of Ipiranga Group and the spin-off of non financial assets of Bradesco and the creation of Bradespar.

•Between 1996 and 1998 worked at Banco Patrimônio as part of the equity asset management team and responsible for the relationship with Darby Overseas, executing 3 transactions for them, Dixie Toga, Livraria Siciliano and Atlantica Hotels. In the end of 1998 Banco Patrimônio was sold to Chase.

•Previously worked as an equity research analyst at Banco Votorantim, covering sectors such as telecom, auto parts, textile and beverage.

•Mr. Penalva holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universidade de São Paulo – Escola Politecnica

Stefan Madach

•Mr. Stefan Madach joined Riza Capital in 2017. Before joining Riza Capital he worked at Deutsche Bank in Brazil as a Senior Associate responsible for the execution of complex cross-border Investment Banking transactions.

•He has 10+ years of experience in Investment Banking. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank in 2014, Stefan worked at BI&P, Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley and Pátria Investimentos.

•Mr. Madach has worked in notable Investment Banking transactions in the Brazilian market including more recently the merger between Suzano Papel e Celulose and Fibria creating a company with Enterprise Value of ~US$ 27 billion, the US$650 million IPO of Brazilian company Azul S.A. (2017) and US$ 2.7 billion advisory to BAT in the delisting of Souza Cruz S.A. (2015).

•Stefan holds an MBA from F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College (Summa Cum Laude), an specialization in Corporate Finance from Columbia Business School and received a BA in Business Administration from Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV – EAESP) with major in Corporate Finance.

Diego Mendes

•Before joining Riza Capital, Diego Mendes worked at Itaú BBA between 2007 and 2017 covering the LatAm Oil & Gas and Petrochemical sector. The team was consistently ranked among the best by Institutional Investor for its coverage of the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical sector in Brazil and Latin America from 2008 to 2017. Petrobras, Cosan, Braskem, Ultrapar, Tenaris, Ecopetrol, Mexichem, Alpek and Comgás were part of his coverage universe.

•Diego became the lead analyst for the team in 2015, and in 2016 and 2017 he was ranked as one of the best analysts for the energy sector for his coverage in Brazil and Latin America by Institutional Investor magazine as well as the best earnings estimator for the energy sector in Latin America by Thomson Reuters in 2016. Between 2007 and 2009 he also covered the Transportation sector. While at Itaú BBA, he participated in nine IPO processes and performed several deal and non-deal road shows in LatAm, Europe, North America and Asia.

•Prior to joining Itaú BBA, Diego worked in Equity Research at JP Morgan, covering the Metals & Mining and Pulp & Paper sectors in LatAm and Russia.

Octávio Albuquelque

• Before joining Riza Capital, Octávio Albuquelque worked in the M&A and Antitrust teams of Pinheiro Neto Advogados and Mattos Filho. With 1+ years of experience in Investment Banking, Octávio has participated in key transactions, such as the advisory to Hapvida in the acquisition of Grupo São Francisco for R$ 5 billion.

Felipe Hachem

• Felipe Hachem holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Insper, and has been a member at Riza Capital for over a year.

Rodrigo Becker

• Before joining Riza Capital, Rodrigo Becker worked in the Corporate Restructuring and Infrastructure & Capital Projects teams of Alvarez & Marsal for almost 2 years. During his career, Rodrigo has worked in projects in the following sectors: mining, electric power transmission and substation, thermal power station, healthcare, lithography, ceramics and food.
